Manor Homes For Sale
Manor, Texas is an incorporated community on U.S. Highway 290 twelve miles northeast of Austin in northeastern Travis County in the black-land prairie soil district. The city is named after James B. Manor the first post master of the area. James settled in the area in about 1804 near Gillean Creek, his home became the first stage stop out of Austin functioning as a post office in the mid 1800s.
Manor became a center for cotton production and cotton shipping in Travis county especially with a railroad hub giving easy access to the agricultural marketplace and storage facilities. Today the city still is a hub for agriculture but several farmland tracts have been transformed into a thriving community of homes and businesses. Manor has become a bedroom community to Austin offering new home construction, land, and farm and ranch properties.
Located just east of Austin on Hwy 290 East, Manor residents will most likely live in one of four zip codes—78653, 78621, 78660 or 78754.
Manor was propelled into the news by President Obama on May 10th 2013 launching his American Jobs Tour at New Tech High school.
